Given the amount of contention regarding the trademark, the easiest thing to
do would be to place it in the public domain and let it die of lost meaning.
Regarding the domains, before we do something as hostile as to take them
away, I'd make sure we all agreed about that and had discussed it throughly.
Thanks

If you read the press release,
http://www.newsalert.com/bin/story?StoryId=CnU3LubWbu0zuvta4o&FQ=Linux&SymH
you will see towards the bottom:
"Open Source is a trademark of Apple Computer, Inc."
Like it or not, but now may be neccessary to come up with some of the
documents regarding the trademark, how it was handled initially etc.
Not only for Eric "Shoot Bill, get famous" Raymond, but in actual
legal confronation with Apple.

In good faith, I think that's a typo. It actually reads:
NOTE: Apple, the Apple logo, Macintosh, Mac OS, Power Macintosh and
WebObjects are registered trademarks of Apple Computer, Inc. Open Source
is a trademark of Apple Computer, Inc.
I don't see a reason why "Apple Computer, Inc." should be mentioned twice.
It would be interesting to know what they intended to write there...
"Software in the Public Interest"? I hope.
